At the Seaside!

July 5th 2019

Checking the weather Apps showed us that the coast would be a few degrees cooler than central France. With cooler temperatures becoming a bit of a priority we headed over the Arcachon Bay and the town of Andernos-les-Bains.

Cooler temperatures and shade, lovely.

We we last in these parts 30 years ago, in a £350 Hillman Avenger estate, packed to bursting with tent and all the other paraphernalia. It was our first foreign camping trip and signalled the start of our love affair with French camping.

The campsite borders this lovely setting

The campsite, Fontaine Vieille, is typical for the region. Set in a pine forest and bordering the Bay. It has direct beach access and, at least on our first night, spectacular sunsets.

4 swimmers returning from their evening dip.

We’re booked in for 4 nights but we may stay longer, whilst we wait for news on our prospective house purchase. It feels like we’re in limbo now, just killing time before we get the keys.

There are worse ways to kill time of course, and it beats working.

Watch this space.
